New Fans

Nothing makes us happier than converting people who don't like barbeque sauce into FunniBonz fans. Well nothing, that is, besides picky conservative kids that try and love the sauce as well. Here are two recent converts to the FunniBonz family:

Office of Urban Affairs

This week Jim III, Jim Jr. and Fred Lewis met with Jeff Brown of Brown's Family ShopRites, some of the White House staff and several local politicians regarding the White House's Initiative on Urban Affairs. (Yes, that is Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter!)

NJ Festival of Ballooning

FunniBonz will be sampling the best tasting sloppy joe you have ever had at the NJ Festival of Ballooning at Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ all weekend long!

If you have never been to the balloon festival, you have been missing a real New Jersey treat! With reasonable ticket prices, it is an all day (or all weekend) event. Pack up the kids, throw your beach chairs, blanket and umbrella (and their wagon if they are small) into the car and make your way to Readington (less than 10 miles from Bridgewater, NJ.)

Near the front gate, you will probably be handed a bag filled with a few flyers, pens, and various tchotchkes from a local bank or real estate company. By the time you leave at the end of the day, that bag will be filled with samples of chips, candy, yogurt, keychains, soda, toys... whatever the local vendors can give you to introduce you to their stuff. And FunniBonz is no different. Well... except that our samples are hot, fresh and delicious. That's all!

There is a huge assortment of vendor booths with stuff to sell - from hot tubs and windows and cars to wind chimes and dream catchers and Native American music. You will also find lots of food stands with a generous variety of typical summertimes fares.

There are places to play games or shoot hoops for prizes, moon bounces, circus acts, a kid tent with hands-on activites and even an amusement park with rides galore. Plus Kool and the Gang and Michael McDonald will be there in concert. How much more can you ask for?

And after all of that walking and playing and eating and excitement, settle down in your lawn chair and watch the balloons pump up and take off. The QuickChek eagle balloon lifts off first and a hundred gorgeous, unusually shaped, vividly colored balloons follow it over the horizon just before dusk rolls in. It is really a beautiful sight to see.

So if you have no plans this weekend, or even just one free day, we highly recommend the NJ Festival of Ballooning.

And, of course, don't forget to stop by the FunniBonz booth and say "Hi!"

More AWESOME interviews!

We were interviewed by the Home News Tribune, East Brunswick's hometown paper, while sampling our wares at the Fancy Food Show last month. Check out our interview here:

Central Jersey specialty foods jockey for attention at worldwide Fancy Food Show

Also, Mrs. Mo also writes for NJ My Way and her article was revised and printed here as well:

The Sauce Guy

Read up on FunniBonz then pick some up in your local market and see what all the fuss is about. Although our sauce can be enjoyed 365 days a year, Summertime is always be best time to enjoy good friends, cold beer and good great barbeque!

Check out Jim's Interview with Mrs. Mo's New Jersey

Some people would say that Jim Barbour is a saucy kind of guy. But the West Windsor entrepreneur would take that as a compliment!

After launching his own line of all-natural BBQ sauces called FunniBonz in December 2008, Barbour has been treating NJ residents to his unique and all-natural creations. As of January 2009, FunniBonz has sold 2,200 cases which are 26,400 jars and are in 102 store locations and have received orders from Market Meats in Vancouver, Canada and Selfridges in London, England making them an International company. With 3 full time employees, 6 part time employees, 12 part time independent contractors and 1 intern for the summer, FunniBonz is growing rapidly!
